1927: Pancho Villa’s Pet Deer Moves to Los Angeles

Betty Bradley and her pet deer, Bennie (1927)

Betty Bradley and her pet deer, Bennie (1927); “Bennie (or Benny) the deer was said to have been the former pet of revolutionary Pancho Villa, and was given to Betty Bradley while she was visiting in Mexico with her parents. In 1929, Bennie escaped and was found wandering in Downtown Los Angeles and apprehended by police. He was ‘paroled’ and returned to Miss Bradley with a stern warning that another escape would land Bennie in a zoo.” (source)
